Cheese Tortellini in Creamy Marinara

  • 1 package (9 oz) refrigerated cheese tortellini
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (14 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil leaves, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the cheese tortellini according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the crushed tomatoes, dried basil, and oregano. Simmer for 8-10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Reduce heat to low and stir in the heavy cream and grated Parmesan cheese. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the sauce is creamy and heated through.
  5. Season the sauce with salt and black pepper to taste.
  6. Toss the cooked tortellini gently with the creamy marinara sauce until well coated.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with fresh basil leaves.

Notes

For extra flavor, add a pinch of red pepper flakes while sautéing the garlic for a subtle kick.
