These Cinnamon Sugar Bagels are soft, chewy, and perfectly sweetened with a cinnamon sugar coating, making them an ideal breakfast treat or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast (1 packet)
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F/45°C)
  • 3 ½ cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup cinnamon sugar (for topping)
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for greasing)
  • 1 tbsp baking soda (for boiling water)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water and let sit for 5 minutes until foamy.
  2. Add bread flour, salt, sugar, and cinnamon to the yeast mixture and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let rise for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 8 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a ball and poke a hole through the center to form a bagel shape.
  7. Bring a large pot of water to a boil and add baking soda. Boil each bagel for 1 minute on each side, then remove with a slotted spoon and place on the baking sheet.
  8. Brush each boiled bagel lightly with water and sprinkle generously with cinnamon sugar.
  9. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
  10. Let cool slightly before serving warm or at room temperature.
