Ground Beef Stroganoff

A hearty and creamy Ground Beef Stroganoff made with tender mushrooms and onions in a rich sour cream sauce, perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
  2. Add chopped onions and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in sliced mushrooms and garlic; cook until mushrooms release their moisture and become tender, about 5 minutes.
  4. Sprinkle flour over the mixture and stir well to combine.
  5. Slowly pour in beef broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Bring to a simmer and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.
  6. Reduce heat to low and stir in sour cream. Heat through gently without boiling. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  7. Serve the stroganoff sauce over cooked egg noodles and garnish with fresh parsley.

Notes

For added flavor, try adding a splash of dry white wine when cooking the mushrooms, or serve with steamed green beans for a complete meal.
