Hamburger Steaks in Creamy Dill Sauce

Homemade hamburger steaks sizzling in skillet

Juicy hamburger steaks smothered in a luscious creamy dill sauce, perfect for a comforting and flavorful dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
  • 1 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup beef broth

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are incorporated.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 equal-sized hamburger patties.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add patties and cook 4-5 minutes per side or until browned and cooked through. Remove patties from skillet and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Stir in beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet.
  6. Add sour cream, chopped dill, and Dijon mustard. Stir to combine and heat gently until sauce is warmed through, about 2-3 minutes. Do not boil.
  7. Return hamburger steaks to the skillet and spoon the creamy dill sauce over them. Heat together for 2 minutes to meld flavors.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with extra fresh dill if desired.

Notes

For an extra tender steak, let the patties rest 5 minutes before serving and serve with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
