This hearty Turkey Burger Chili blends lean ground turkey with robust spices and vegetables for a delicious, protein-packed meal perfect for any occasion.

  • 1 lb lean ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tbsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add diced onions and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
  3. Stir in garlic and red bell pepper; cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Add ground turkey, breaking it apart with a spoon, and cook until browned and no longer pink.
  5. Mix in chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper; cook for 1 minute to release the spices’ aroma.
  6. Stir in tomato paste, diced tomatoes, kidney beans, and chicken broth.
  7. Bring chili to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Adjust seasoning as needed and garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.

Notes

For extra depth, try topping with shredded cheese or a dollop of sour cream. Serve with crusty bread or over rice for a filling meal.
