  • Wooden spoon
  • Toothpick

Ingredients

For the Cake:

  • 1 box butter pecan cake mix
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Praline Sauce:

  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ cup chopped pecans

Optional Toppings:

  • Toasted coconut flakes
  • Whipped cream
  • Caramel drizzle

Instructions

Prepare the Cake:

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, chopped pecans, vegetable oil, eggs, whole milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Prepare the Praline Sauce:

  • While the cake is baking, melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Stir in the packed brown sugar and heavy cream, cooking until the mixture is smooth and bubbling.
  • Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and chopped pecans. Let the sauce cool slightly.

Poke and Soak:

  • Once the cake is baked, use the handle of a wooden spoon to poke holes all over the surface.
  • Pour the warm praline sauce over the cake, ensuring it seeps into the holes for maximum flavor infusion.
  • Allow the cake to cool completely before adding any optional toppings.

Notes

Notes:
Dairy-Free Option: Substitute almond milk and dairy-free butter for the dairy ingredients.

For Extra Moisture: Drizzle sweetened condensed milk over the cake before pouring the praline sauce.
Nut Alternatives: Walnuts or almonds can be used in place of pecans.
Gluten-Free Version: Use a gluten-free cake mix instead of the standard mix.
